1. Back Up Your Data to the Cloud

For iPhone: Go to Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > iCloud Backup and tap "Back Up Now".

For Android: Go to Settings > Google > Backup and tap "Back up now". Ensure your photos are synced to Google Photos.

2. Log Out of All Accounts

Before resetting, manually log out of your primary accounts. For iPhones, this means signing out of your Apple ID (which also turns off Find My iPhone). For Androids, remove your Google Account in the settings.

Warning: If you factory reset a phone without logging out, the "Activation Lock" will trigger, making the phone completely useless to the next owner.

3. Unpair Your Smartwatches

If you own an Apple Watch or Galaxy Watch, unpair it from your phone before wiping the data. Otherwise, you won't be able to connect the watch securely to your new device.

4. Remove the SIM and MicroSD Cards

This sounds obvious, but you would be shocked at how many people forget. Use a SIM ejector tool to pop out the tray and keep your physical SIM.

5. Perform a Secure Factory Reset
